Almaty, Kazakhstan: The Indian women's shooting team has excelled at the Asian Shooting Championship 2025. The trio of Olympian Sift Kaur Samra, Anjum Moudgil, and Ashi Chouksey have brought glory to the country by winning the gold medal in the women's 50-meter rifle three positions event.
Sports News: Indian women have put on a brilliant performance at the Asian Shooting Championship, winning the gold medal. The Olympian trio of Sift Kaur Samra, Anjum Moudgil, and Ashi Chouksey secured the top spot in the women's 50-meter rifle three positions event. World record holder Samra scored 589 points, while Ashi Chouksey scored 586 and Anjum Moudgil scored 578 points.
The combined score of these three was 1753 points, which allowed India to seize the gold medal. In the competition, Japan came in second with 1750 points and South Korea came in third with 1745 points.
India's Daughters Win Gold
Sift Kaur Samra scored 589 points. Her performance was world-class and she played a key role in helping the Indian team win the gold medal. Samra had already set a world record by winning gold in the women's 50-meter rifle three positions event at the 2022 Asian Games. In addition, she has also represented India at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Ashi Chouksey scored 586 points. Ashi is among India's most emerging shooters. In 2022, she won a gold medal in the mixed team event at the ISSF World Cup in Baku and a bronze medal in the team event at the Changwon ISSF World Cup. In 2024, she broke the world record with 597 points at the National Shooting Selection Trials.
Anjum Moudgil scored 578 points in this event. Born on January 5, 1994, Anjum Moudgil has won several individual and team medals for India in the 10-meter air rifle and 50-meter rifle three positions events. She was awarded the Arjuna Award in 2019.
India's Strength in Individual Finals Too
In the qualification round, Samra and Ashi were ranked second and fifth respectively. Based on this performance, both of them entered the individual finals. Meanwhile, India's Shriyanka Sadangi topped the qualification round, but she was only playing to earn ranking points. Anjum Moudgil was ranked 22nd among 41 participants in the individual category. Their team victory proved that the dominance of India's women shooters is b at the Asian level.
