Rajya Sabha MP Kamal Haasan has described education as the best weapon to break dictatorship and social shackles. He also made controversial remarks on the NEET exam regarding the lack of opportunities and on Sanatan Dharma.
Kamal Haasan: Rajya Sabha MP and Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) party chief Kamal Haasan recently delivered a significant and clear message regarding education. At an event organized by the Agaram Foundation in Chennai, he stated that education is the only weapon that can break the chains of dictatorship, social injustice, and discrimination.
Education described as the most important tool
In his address, Kamal Haasan appealed to the youth and society, saying, "Don't take anything else in your hand, just take education. Without it, we cannot win, because the majority can defeat you. Most fools will defeat you." He emphasized that we must hold firmly to education because it is the key to our development and existence.
Controversial remarks also made about Sanatan Dharma
Another aspect of Haasan's statement is particularly noteworthy. In his speech, he also said that education is the weapon that can break dictatorships and social systems like 'Sanatan Dharma'. Although he did not directly question Hinduism, his statement has sparked an ideological debate.
Questions also raised on NEET exam
In his address, Kamal Haasan also expressed concern regarding the medical entrance exam 'NEET'. He said that the introduction of NEET in 2017 has reduced the opportunities for rural and economically backward students. He believes that this examination system has become an obstacle for many deserving students.
Discussion with Chief Minister Stalin
Kamal Haasan stated that he recently met with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. During this time, he discussed the work of the Agaram Foundation in detail. Haasan said, "I told the Chief Minister that this NGO is not asking for any kind of financial assistance, but only wants permission to work. The Chief Minister has assured that necessary steps are being taken in this direction."
Call for change with education
At the end of his speech, Haasan emphasized that the actions of true leaders may not be recognized in time, but they leave a deep impact on society. He said, "Leadership does not only mean staying in power, but bringing about change. Even if that leader later becomes anonymous, his work will always be remembered."
