The application fee for UP TET 2025 is proposed to be increased from Rs 600 to Rs 1700. If a candidate participates in both levels of the examination, the total fee will be Rs 3400. The commission has taken this step due to additional expenses and to ensure smooth conduct of the examination.
UP TET 2025: The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESC) has started preparations to increase the application fee for the Teacher Eligibility Test (UP TET 2025). This examination is conducted for the recruitment of primary and upper primary level teachers. The commission has sent a proposal to the government to increase the currently fixed fee of Rs 600 to Rs 1700. If candidates wish to appear for both levels of the examination, the total fee will reach Rs 3400.
Reason for Fee Hike
While sending the proposal to the government, the Education Service Selection Commission stated that additional expenses are necessary for the smooth and transparent conduct of the examination. According to the commission, a government order was issued on June 19, 2024, which provided detailed guidelines to recruitment commissions and selection boards for conducting examinations. As per these directives, it is essential to select different agencies for various stages of the examination process, which increases costs.
As an example, the commission cited the pending Assistant Professor recruitment examination of 2022. This examination was conducted on April 16 and 17, 2025, and incurred relatively higher expenses. Similarly, additional expenditure has been estimated for UP TET 2025.
UP TET Examination Dates
The dates for the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test have already been announced. The primary and upper primary level examinations will be conducted on January 29 and 30, 2026, respectively. The application process for the examination will be initiated soon by the commission. Candidates are advised to apply on time and be prepared for fee payment.
Examination System and Agency Selection
The biggest reason behind the fee increase is the complex examination process. As per the government order, the commission has proposed to allocate tasks to different agencies for each responsibility of the examination.
- First Agency: Will prepare the question papers, print them, and deliver them to the treasuries of all districts.
- Second Agency: During the examination, will transport the question papers from the treasury to the examination centers, ensure all arrangements at the examination centers, and return the OMR sheets to the commission after the examination is concluded.
- Third Agency: Will manage security arrangements at the examination centers.
- Fourth Agency: Will scan OMR sheets within the commission premises and provide the examination scores to the commission.
This process incurs additional expenditure on the conduct of the examination, which is why the commission has sent a proposal to the government to triple the application fee.
Impact of Fee Increase on Candidates
If this proposal is approved, the examination fee for primary and upper primary levels will increase from Rs 600 to Rs 1700. If candidates participate in both levels of the examination, a total fee of Rs 3400 will be required. This fee increase is being implemented due to the commission's rising expenditure needs and for the smooth conduct of the examination.

The application process for UP TET 2025 will begin on the commission's official website. Candidates are advised to keep the following points in mind:
- Applications will be accepted only through online mode.
