Delhi CM News: The incident involving an attack on Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday morning at the Chief Minister's office in Civil Lines has raised questions about the security arrangements in the capital. The accused in this attack is a youth from Rajkot, Gujarat. The police have taken him into custody and are conducting their investigation.

Identification of the Accused

The accused has been identified as Rajesh Sakariya (41). He resides in Gokul Park on Kotharia Road in Rajkot with his wife, son, and parents. According to the Delhi Police, Rajesh initially handed some documents to the Chief Minister during the public hearing and then suddenly attacked her. At the time of the incident, the Chief Minister was interacting with the public.

What the Accused's Mother Said

Rajesh's mother, Bhanuben Sakariya, told reporters that her son is not affiliated with any political party. He is an auto-rickshaw driver, and his sole purpose was to protest against the Supreme Court's order. Bhanuben said that her son traveled to Delhi to demonstrate in support of the protection of stray dogs. She mentioned that Rajesh had gone to Haridwar a few days prior and had informed the family over the phone that he was going to participate in a protest in Delhi. Bhanuben clarified that Rajesh did not provide her with more details regarding this trip.

Situation at the Time of the Attack

According to sources from the BJP Delhi unit, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was interacting with the public as per her usual schedule during the attack. Rajesh handed her some documents and then suddenly tried to grab and pull her hand. There was some jostling during this incident. Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva stated that the Chief Minister's condition is stable. Doctors have examined her and have confirmed a minor head injury.
