New Delhi: On Tuesday (September 30), the weather in Delhi-NCR took a sudden turn. For people who had been troubled by humidity and heat for a long time, the cool winds and dark clouds in the morning brought a sense of relief and comfort. The capital's sky became overcast with clouds, and around 11 AM, raindrops made the weather pleasant. The meteorological department has issued a yellow alert, warning people of heavy rain and light showers.

Rain and Drop in Temperature

The weather in Delhi-NCR was pleasant in the morning, but by afternoon, the rain, accompanied by cool winds, brought the temperature down to normal levels, providing relief to people. According to the meteorological department, light rain and drizzle are expected on Tuesday and Wednesday (September 30 and October 1). Temperatures are likely to range between 25 and 35 degrees Celsius, which will provide respite from the prolonged humidity and heat.

The meteorological department stated that for several past days, there had been no wind, which had significantly increased the temperature and humidity levels in the capital. On Monday (September 29), the maximum temperature recorded was 37.5 degrees Celsius, while on Sunday, it had reached 38.1 degrees Celsius. This temperature was considerably higher than normal for the month of September.

IMD and Yellow Alert Information

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast generally cloudy skies and light rain for Tuesday. Humidity levels were recorded between 57 and 76 percent. Following the issuance of the yellow alert, the administration and the public have been instructed to remain vigilant regarding the weather.

According to the yellow alert, there is a possibility of sudden weather changes and heavy rainfall in various parts of the capital. Therefore, people have been advised to exercise caution and avoid going to waterlogged areas.

Delhi's Air and Pollution Status

According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 120. This falls into the 'moderate' category. However, due to rain and cool winds, air quality is expected to improve in the coming days.

The meteorological department has appealed to citizens to wear light clothes when stepping out in the morning and evening, and to carry an umbrella or raincoat for rain. With light, monsoon-like rain and cool winds, the weather in the capital has now reached a somewhat comfortable state.
