Fatehpur / Uttar Pradesh — Amit alias Lalit Patel (38), a shopkeeper residing in Sarhan Buzurg village under the Chandpur police station area, was murdered on Friday night. His body was discovered by the roadside on the Amauli–Sarhan Buzurg road.
Police have initiated an inspection of the crime scene.

Nature of the Incident

Amit was returning home on his bike after attending a 'Bhandara' (community feast) program. In the morning, local residents spotted his body on the road and informed the authorities. The body bore strangulation marks on the neck and three wounds on the head, which clearly indicates that the murder was committed by strangulation.

His mobile phone was found with Amit, which the police have seized and are using in their investigation. A forensic team has been called, and the police are actively working to unravel the mystery of the murder.

Direction of Investigation and Key Questions

Whether the murder is a result of personal enmity or a case of robbery is the first crucial question. It needs to be determined whether the accused attacked him from his home or vicinity, or if the individual was followed beforehand. The examination of the mobile phone and other evidence is expected to yield some clues.

Footage from local CCTV cameras should also be scrutinized to identify the culprits.
