What happened?
The wife's name was Urmila Devi. She was lying injured in the room, covered in blood. The husband's name was identified as Kalicharan. After the murder, he sat in the room, placing the blood-stained sickle in front of him. Upon receiving the information, villagers and the police arrived, both left aghast by the sight.
The police personnel were also momentarily frightened. It was reported that Kalicharan had been mentally disturbed before; 15 days prior, he had also attacked his brother. The police snatched the sickle from his hand at the scene and arrested the accused. The deceased woman's body was sent for post-mortem.
