Gujarat BJP Announces Presidential Election Schedule: Search for C.R. Paatil's Successor Begins

The party has announced the election schedule for the long-pending appointment to the president's post in Gujarat BJP. Similar to the National President of the BJP, the post of Gujarat State President was also vacant for a long time. Now, the election process will be completed in the presence of Union Minister and Gujarat In-charge Bhupendra Yadav. 

Ahmedabad: The long-pending appointment for the Gujarat state president's post in the BJP has now gained momentum. The party has released the election schedule for the new president. This election will take place in the presence of Union Minister and Gujarat In-charge Bhupendra Yadav, while the party has appointed K. Laxman as the election observer. Currently, Union Minister C.R. Paatil was handling the responsibility of Gujarat BJP President, but the suspense remains as to who will replace him. 

According to Uday Kanagad, the election officer for the BJP Gujarat organization, nominations will be filed from 11 AM to 1 PM on Friday. It is expected that the situation will become clear during the nomination process.

Nomination Process and Election Timeline

If only one candidate files a nomination, the election will be unopposed. However, if more than one candidate nominates, an active election process will commence.

The party has announced a two-day election schedule. This schedule will include the process of nominations, scrutiny, and a potential election. Currently, political activity is intense, and all eyes are on the president's post.

Who Will Be the New President After C.R. Paatil?

Union Minister C.R. Paatil was the president of Gujarat BJP until now. The question of who will take over his responsibility has become a topic of discussion in political circles. Experts believe that the party is likely exploring the possibility of appointing a leader from the OBC category this time. Several names are being discussed for the president's post.

  • Jagdish Vishwakarma – Minister of Cooperation and MLA from Nikol, from the Panchal community.
  • Mayank Nayak – Rajya Sabha MP.

Other potential candidates include: Harshdgiri Goswami, former Home Minister Pradipsinh Jadeja, former Minister Arjunsingh Chauhan, former Union Minister Devusinh Chauhan, and Babu Bhai Jebalia. According to political analysts, a leader with a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) background might also be entrusted with the president's post. This election will show in which direction the party wishes to make strategic changes.

The new president's first test in Gujarat will be the municipal elections. It is believed that the municipal elections will be completed by February. A total of 52 local organizational teams in the state's cities and districts are yet to be formed. Currently, all organizations are operating with the old president's team.
