New Delhi: Delhi Police's Special Cell successfully apprehended two notorious criminals, Akash Rajput and Mahipal, during an encounter conducted in the Kapashera area. Serious cases are registered against both criminals in several states. The objective of this operation was to dismantle the Indian network of gangsters operating from abroad. During the encounter, Akash Rajput sustained a gunshot wound to his leg and was admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Akash and Mahipal's Criminal Record
Akash Rajput, a resident of Sriganganagar, Rajasthan, was involved in a ransom-related shooting that occurred in Assandh (Karnal) in July 2022. Furthermore, he was also wanted in connection with a kidnapping and a demand for 100 crore rupees in ransom in Gujarat. The Rajasthan Police had declared a reward of 20,000 rupees on Akash Rajput.
Mahipal, a resident of Bharatpur, Rajasthan, joined this gang while out on bail in the Karnal shooting case. Both criminals were associated with the Rohit Godara, Goldy Brar, and Virendra Charan gangs and were planning to flee abroad. Their network has been actively involved in committing crimes across the country.
Criminals Arrested in Encounter
The Special Cell team received concrete intelligence in the Kapashera area. As the criminals attempted to flee, the police took retaliatory action to stop them, leading to an encounter. During this, Akash Rajput sustained a gunshot wound to his leg. Both criminals were immediately brought under control and taken to the hospital, and subsequently into police custody.
Police cordoned off the entire area, increased security, and intensified the search for potential accomplices. Nearby citizens were asked to remain alert from a security perspective. No other civilian was injured in the encounter.
Legal Action Initiated Against Criminals
Legal proceedings have been immediately initiated against the arrested criminals. Further investigations are underway, taking into account the cases registered in various states. According to Delhi Police sources, this action is a significant step towards dismantling the ongoing criminal network across the country.
During the investigation, efforts are being made to ascertain the inter-state and international contacts of the criminals. Furthermore, it is also being determined in which areas they carried out illegal activities and with which other criminals they were associated.
