Meerut, October 3, 2025 — Devotees in Meerut were moved to tears during the grand farewell (Visarjan) of Maa Durga after the nine nights of Navratri. Accompanied by a procession organized by the Bengali Durgabari Committee, the idol of the Mother Goddess was immersed in water. Women performed Sindoor Khela and prayed to Maa Bhagwati for eternal marital bliss.

The procession commenced from Sadar Durgabari and proceeded through Sadar Bazaar, Ghantaghar, Abu Lane, and Begumpul, reaching Nanu Canal. Along the entire route, devotees chanted "Maa Durga Ki Jai" and felt a surge of triumph amidst the sounds of dhak drums. The committee informed that this year, natural and organic colors and materials were used in the idol making to prevent water pollution during immersion and ensure environmental safety.

On the banks of the canal, devotees bid farewell to the Goddess with moist eyes. After the immersion, Priest Shiv Prasad offered Shanti Jal (holy water) to everyone. Following this, Bengali families greeted each other with "Shubho Bijoya," extending Vijaya Dashami wishes. Several individuals, including President Dr. Subroto Sen, Puja Secretary Nobendu Roy Chowdhury, Joint Secretaries Priyank Chatterjee and Satyajit Mukherjee, were present at the event.

At Mukundi Devi Dharamshala, located at Ghantaghar in the city, Vijaya Dashami celebrations were also held at the Durga Puja pandal, and the Goddess was bid farewell with proper rituals. After the event, women and children participated in various competitions as part of the festivities and presented Bengali songs and dances during a cultural evening.
